Slate is an open source web technology platform for schools. With school staff contributing to the project, Slate allows schools to maintain complete control over their software and data, and facilitates adoption and maintenance of new web based education technologies.
I worked as part of the Slate development team for a custom Slate-powered solution for Matchbook charter school. Matchbook’s system is built on the ExtJS web framework, with many custom packages and extensions developed and maintained by Slate developers. I was tasked with jumping into a very complex feature development project and getting up to speed with a large codebase. I had the chance to work with some of the brightest on the Slate team and learned a lot about working on a high performing development team. I resolved various bugs and developed many features during my time with the Slate team.
